FOR A HIKE TO SOUTH MOUNTAIN WITH DR. TODD BOSTWICK

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 24TH, 2018

9:30AM

MEET AT SOUTH MOUNTAIN PARK VISITOR CENTER 10919 South Central Avenue Phoenix 85047 (google for directions) NO ENTRANCE FEE

AAS MEMBERS ONLY WITH PRIORITY GIVEN TO DESERT FOOTHILLS MEMBERS

We will be doing two hikes: first one will be to Box Canyon where there are more than 240 petroglyph panels that have been documented.  Along with the famous etchings of the water birds, spirals and crosses. This is a ½ hike mostly flat but with some boulder hopping.  The second hike will be a short drive to Beverly Canyon.  This 1 ½ mile hike is moderately steep and with an elevation gain of 250 feet.

Please plan on approximately 4-5 hours to enjoy both of these hikes.  Dr. Bostwick will share his expertise on the area.    It is very important that you know your hiking level and ability.  Also, the weather could be warm and this is all outdoors. Again, before you sign up please make sure these two hikes are on your hiking level.

Allow ample drive time to South Mountain.  Drive safe and carefully.

Hike is limited to 12 members.   Contact  Mary @ maryk92@aol.com to sign up.

No sign up the day of hike.
