Cost: $12 per member, if at least 15 sign up.
Trip General Description: Jim and Jan Patton (docents at the museum) will lead our group through the Scottsdale Museum of the West. The tour would cover the five galleries on the first floor, break for lunch, and proceed to the two upstairs galleries right afterwards.
First floor includes exhibit of 65 Hopi yellow ware pottery pieces with some 500-yr-old pots, and 18 original Nampeyo pieces. In other first floor locations there are a number of Hopi white polychrome wares from Naha and Navasie family artists. Upstairs, one of our two galleries has wonderful 18th and 19th century original western art (Catlin, Bodmer, Miller, Russell, Moran, Remington, Taos Society of America, Dixon), Edward S. Curtis original glass photos of North American Indians, and a good many 19th century Plains Indians ethnographic pieces (including a ceremonial pipe-tomahawk that belonged to Meriwether Lewis). The other upstairs gallery has numerous original paintings and sculptures of Plains Indian and Mountain Man themes, many by Cowboy Artists of America members.

The museum is located in downtown Scottsdale, at N. Marshall Way and 1st Street, one block west of Scottsdale Road. It is steps away from numerous art galleries and restaurants.
Parking:
There is ample free parking available in a City of Scottsdale underground parking garage, which can be accessed from the driveway located just south of Main Street, on the north side of the museum building. Look for the blue parking sign on Marshall Way.
