NORTHERN ARIZONA CHAPTER TO HOST STATE MEETINGThe Northern Arizona Chapter in Flagstaff will host the May meeting of the Arizona Archaeological Society. We are very fortunate that the Museum of Northern Arizona has made the Branigar-Chase Discovery Center available to us for the meeting, which will take place Saturday May 31st and Sunday June 1. By the way, this is the weekend after the Memorial Day holiday. Attendees will have the privilege of visiting the Museum’s exhibits during the day Saturday, so this will be an additional benefit of meeting attendance. The therazinosaur exhibit is an especially exciting exhibit for anyone who hasn’t had the opportunity to see it. After the presentation of the 2008 budget the deficit that has been occurring each year had a lengthy discussion. It was felt that a raise of $5.00 would go a long ways in alleviating this on going problem. Since this is a matter that affects everyone I strongly urge the Chapter presidents to discuss the upcoming vote with their members. Please refer to the State Meeting minutes. The abbreviated version of the minutes appears in this issue. The complete version can be found on the web site.
The Arizona Archaeological Society was founded in 1964 as an independent, non-profit, state-wide volunteer organization to serve as a bond between professional archaeologists and avocational nonprofessional volunteers in order to foster interest and research in the archaeology of Arizona; to encourage better public understanding and concern for archaeological and cultural resources; and, to protect antiquities by discouraging exploitation of archaeological resources.
