  • Tucson, AZ (specific location to meet TBD)

Dr. Bill Doelle, President & CEO, and Janine Hernbrode, of Archaeology Southwest will be leading us on a two day tour to some of the most interesting pre-historic sites in the Tucson area.

We will drive (perhaps carpool) to Tucson on Friday, November 7th and spend the night (lodging details will be provided later as we are working to negotiate a preferred group hotel rate).

On Saturday, November 8th, Bill will guide (and provide his expert interpretation) us to several habitation and rock art sites in the San Pedro Valley.  We will finish mid-afternoon and return to Tucson.

On Sunday, November 9th, Janine will lead us to the dramatic Sutherland Wash Petroglyph site.  This will involve a relatively flat hike of 5-6 miles (round-trip) from our vehicles to the site.  The hike is on uneven terrain and hiking poles are recommended.  This portion of the trip will require 4-wheel drive.  We will finish in the early afternoon, to allow time to drive home or spend a leisurely afternoon in Tucson and drive home on Monday.

Participants will be required to sign an AAS Liability and Release Form.

The field trip fee is $25 to all AAS Members, to in part cover a Chapter donation to Archaeology Southwest. The fee is due upon signing up and is non-refundable.

Please e-mail Scott Newth to sign-up. rsnewth@msn.com Space is limited to 15, no exceptions.

Please Note: if you show up and are NOT a current member of AAS (e.g. the Verde Valley Chapter), you will NOT be allowed to participate.
